2011 Queen of the Turf Stakes Final Field & Betting Tips

March 31st, 2011

The 2011 Queen of the Turf Stakes is set to run at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse this Saturday April 2 as one of five Group 1 features on the Golden Slipper Day programme.

Scheduled to take place as Rosehill Race 3 at 1:05pm (AEDST), the $400,000 Group 1 Inglis Queen of the Turf Stakes (1500m) has drawn a small but classy field of seven fillies and mares.

The most anticipated horse racing showdown at Rosehill on Saturday is the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) due to jump at 4:04pm (AEDST).

But first, Gai Waterhouse’s glamour mare More Joyous will lead the Queen of the Turf Stakes field.

A four-time Group 1 winner, More Joyous is unbeaten this preparation having won all three of her starts in fine style including the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield ahead of Whobegotyou and most recently the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on March 19 by an easy three lengths.

More Joyous continues to outclass her rivals effortlessly time and time again.

She has the form, last-start win at the track, ideal barrier two draw and strong record over the mile so 100m shorter here should storm home and claim another emphatic victory on way to the Doncaster Mile.

Rosehill Race 3 Tips – 2011 Queen of the Turf Stakes Results Prediction

1st: #1 More Joyous – Rated Special To Win – Bet now at Luxbet

2nd: #2 Melito – Deserved $6 second favourite at Luxbet

3rd: #3 Set For Fame – $21 outsider adds value to Trifecta at Luxbet

The best Queen of the Stakes tip is to lock in More Joyous and Melito into the Exacta.

Fellow Group 1 winning mare Meltio was gallant in defeat last start finishing third in the Coolmore Classic carting a hefty 59kg.

She was beaten by Aloha (contesting the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes on Saturday) and Jersey Lily who had just 52.5kg on her back.

This time Melito drops back 2kg and Jersey Lily rises 4.5kg as they meet equally in the weights with 57kg.

Peter Moody’s Set For Fame is not fancied in the market sitting at $21 through Luxbet, but this is great for punters and their Place bets.

Set For Fame was less than a length away third in a Listed feature at Flemington last start when drawn out in barrier 14 of 14, she comes into a smaller field with gate six on Saturday which is enough to see her improve and finish in the money.
